Pipe Bursting in San Diego
A burst pipe can cause significant damage, both visible and hidden, to your home. Beyond the immediate water damage, problems such as mold growth and structural deterioration can occur if not addressed promptly. Timely intervention is crucial to prevent escalating repair costs and further property deterioration. At Almco Plumbing, we specialize in efficient pipe replacement solutions, such as the pipe burst method, to restore the integrity of your home with minimal disruption. Here’s how we completed the project with precision and expertise.
Client’s Problem
A pipe burst wreaked havoc in the client home in visible and invisible ways. Mold was one of the first signs of water damage on the property. Water damage from burst pipes also causes decaying and warping on client’s furniture, house structure, and other components. If the client burst pipes are not controlled in time, he will end up having to pay more for multiple repairs in his home.
Service
Pipe bursting is the best way to repair old, broken sewers that are too expensive or difficult for traditional methods. HDPE pipes will be placed along with new sewer vents and manholes, so you can have quick access in case of emergencies without needing heavy machinery.
This pipe bursting method requires minimal disruption to an existing pipeline and works quickly and efficiently. A pre-existing pipeline can be used as a reference point—cutting straight through the existing pipe while simultaneously inserting a new piece of piping behind it. Pipe-bursting heads can be made out of cast, ductile iron (including stainless), steel, concrete, clay, plastic or fiber cement.
The pros of bursting method:
- Pipe bursting is a quick and easy way to remove internal pipes of different sizes.
- Pipe bursting can be used at pull lengths of over 300 m (1,000ft)
- The use of bursting technology has made it possible to virtually replace most pipe materials, with the exception being HPDE pipes.
- Pipe bursting technology is a great way to fix existing pipes no matter what condition they’re in.
- Pipe bursting is an effective way to increase flow in pipes.
Solution from Almco Plumbing
Step 1: We replaced the sewer in the house and burst the pipe.
- We put a new pipe under the house all the way to the bathroom. And we don’t use jackhammer. Kitchen, living room, everything is saved. Just one hole in the bathroom and one hole outside, and the client has a new pipe under the whole house.
- Outside we have to dig trenches in the line, replace the sewer main line and go all the way and connect it to the city. It’s over 5ft down.
- And then we install two-way cleanouts for you to have access in the future if you need to do any drain clean service.
Step 2: Inside the house, we removed all the old pipes and installed new ones for a toilet, bath and washing machine.
- Inside we use Jackhammer to open the floor, remove the old pipe and install new pipes for vanity, for kitchen, for laundry on the back and for toilets.
- Then this all is backfilled and, in the end, just pour concrete. We do just rough patch, no drywall patch.
Conclusion
Using the pipe bursting method, we efficiently replaced the client’s damaged sewer system with minimal disruption to their property. This trenchless technique not only preserved the integrity of their home, but also ensured a durable and long-lasting solution that restored their plumbing system to optimal functionality.
