Fix Sewer Drain with Epoxy Lining
When a customer experienced reduced water pressure and sluggish drainage, our team at Almco Plumbing identified the culprit: invasive tree roots clogging the sewer line—a common problem that can lead to significant plumbing issues if not addressed promptly.
Our skilled plumbers took a strategic approach, using advanced techniques such as epoxy pipe lining—a trenchless method known for its efficiency and minimal disruption—to restore the system’s functionality.
Here’s how we executed the project, reinforcing the sewer line against future intrusions and ensuring that the client’s plumbing system will operate smoothly for years to come.

Client’s Problem
Our client called us with a complaint that the water passed slowly and its pressure was very small. When our plumbers arrived, they saw that the client had a problem with water flow in the sewer drain. This problem happened because of the tree roots that clogged the pipe. Also, the sewer line was located at a depth under the lawn, so it was hard to get access to the pipe.
Solution from Almco Plumbing
Generally speaking, we dug to get access to the pipe, and then we repaired the sewer drain by cleaning tree roots and epoxy lining. Steps our plumbers made to do this:
- We dug hole with excavator approximately 3 feet wide, 5.5 feet dip and 6 feet long.
- We fixed slope and offset.
- We got rid of tree roots and installed new clean outs.
- We repaired cracks and holes in the pipe with epoxy lining.
- We backfilled and compacted after descale and epoxy liner.
- We filled gravel the place, where we dug for aesthetics.
The first step was to dig a hole descale sewer line clay. We did this by cutting and removing all roots. After that we cleaned all the build ups inside the pipe.
And our main step was epoxy lining to save the pipe from cracks:
- Primarily we pushed a flexible tube into the old pipe. The flexible tube looks like neoprene, and it is coated with a special resin.
- Then the technician pumped compressed air into it so that it could blow out and cling to the interior walls of the old sewer pipe.
- The last step was to backfill and compact after descaling and epoxy lining.
The client got a 5 years warranty for labor on all connections and abs pipe and fittings. Also, he got a 30 years manufacturer guarantee.
If a pipe cracks because of an earthquake or natural disaster, the manufacturer will pay the contractor to replace lateral, at no cost to the customer. Customers must hire contractors to maintain the sewer pipe.
Our check was $20,000 less than competitors for the same job. The job was done well and the client was satisfied with the results.
Conclusion
At Almco Plumbing, we addressed a client’s low water pressure and slow drainage issues caused by tree roots infiltrating the sewer line. Our team efficiently excavated the affected area, removed the intruding roots, and restored the integrity of the pipe with an epoxy lining. This non-invasive method not only minimized disruption to the client’s property, but also provided a cost-effective and durable solution. The project was completed in a single day, and the client received a 5-year service warranty along with a 30-year manufacturer’s warranty, providing long-term peace of mind.

They did a lot of work in one day with minimal disruption to the household and cleaned up beautifully when the job was done. The crew was friendly, polite and hard working. The best part is they charged $20,000 less than my other estimate.
